During the Seddülbahir landing on March 4, 1915, Sergeant Mehmet from Biga with his 15-20 soldiers resisted the bombardment fire of the ships on the one hand, and the attack of the machine guns and British soldiers on the other. The British returned to their ships with 23 dead, 25 wounded and 4 missing. There were 6 martyrs and 13 injured Turkish soldiers in this clash. Sergeant Mehmet was also injured from his head and chest. For this reason, a commemoration program is held every year on March 4 at Seddülbahir Fortress under the responsibility of our Directorate.
