The memorial located on the left side of the Alçıtepe (Achi Baba) to Kabatepe road, 4.5 km to the north of Alçıtepe (Achi Baba) Hill and 2 km south of Kum Port, was subsequently called Observation Hill.

The memorial was erected on August 29, 1939 in memory of the Turkish soldiers who were martyred while rendering the observation service. The link of this memorial to the Battle of the Dardanelles is unknown; yet it is indicated that 408 Turkish soldiers were martyred here. The graves of 3 unknown soldiers are located at the memorial.

Six arrows representing the principles of Atatürk, a crescent and star, and a relief of Atatürk are situated on the Memorial. At the bottom of the Memorial, the following is inscribed: I am Turkish; Blissful is the one who says he is a Turk / Never shall I let anyone look askance at the Land of the Turk / Me, a Turk, I trust my bayonet, my strength / Or at least shall I rear up with all my soul.
