Havuzlar Martyrs’ Cemetery and Memorial

Audio Guide
Virtual Trip

The Havuzlar Martyrs’ Cemetery and Memorial is located on the left side of the road between the road and the sea when you proceed from the Martyr Corporal Memorial to the Martyrs’ Memorial. The memorial was erected in 1961 by the Charity Society for the Martyrs of the Dardanelles, and was restored by the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs in 2013. The Halil Pasha Fountain is located on the right side of the road before coming to the Martyrs’ Cemetery and Memorial. The writings of the soldiers (in the Ottoman language) that joined the army were inscribed on the marble monoliths across from the fountain. An example of such letters: Man may not ascend to heaven, breaking up with his love; How can I die a natural death, all the world is a hell.
The names of our soldiers who were martyred in the Kerevizdere Region are inscribed on the memorial’s monolith.
