The memorial, located approximately 200 m inside the road and to the left, is known as the Memorial of the 17th Regiment Commander Major Hasan Bey. The memorial was erected by the former Commander of the 2nd Army Corps Muzaffer Alankuş, and was restored by the District Governor’s Office of Eceabat in 2007.

The following is inscribed on the monolith of the Memorial: District Governor 17th regiment Commander Hasan was martyred here. Recite Surah el Fatiha to his departed soul, 11 July 1915. Recent research regarding the memorial found no officer of the rank of lieutenant colonel called “Hasan”, and it is presumed that Major Hüseyin Hilmi Bey, Commander of 6th Division and 17th Regiment, was interred in the area behind the memorial.
