Rumelia Hamidiye Bastion

The bastion is located on the outskirts of Gonca Tepe (Gonca Hill) located south of the Kilitbahir Village. On the monolith on top of the bonnets, it is inscribed that the bastion was built to fortify the strait defense during the era of Abdulhamid II. The bastion is composed of three bonnets and two 35mm Krupp gun platforms. The bonnets were in the form of earth hillocks whose inner sections were made of ashlars and covered by cross vaults, and were generally used as ammunition dumps or wards allocated for privates. 


As the base rings were broken and the bore sight was destroyed during the naval battle, the Rumelia Hamidiye Bastion failed
